Melanie “Mel” Mohler
I’m a writer, editor, and local historian based in Akron, Ohio.
I am:
- the editor of Ohio Genealogy News
- a researcher and oral history interviewer for the Akron LGBTQ+ Archive
- a contributing reporter for Signal Akron
- an Akron documenter
- founder of the Akron Fish Fry Crew
My research interests include the history and development of neighborhoods, community development, community development corporations (CDCs), social clubs, oral history, and food history. Ultimately, I find inspiration and joy in telling the stories of everyday people, places, and things.
I have an MA in Applied History and Public Humanities and a BA in International Relations.
